Thursday, 21 July 2005 This is a pretty large woodblock for this or any other artist. It is by well known and widely collected Japanese artist Shuzo Ikeda. He is known for most of his subjects having large exaggerated eyes, especially children. This is an exceptionally nice image of his. It is signed lower right it is a limited edition series, 74/100. Looks like the date was 1968 for this woodblock. Signed in japanese in pencil and name in english in the wookcut. The colors are very strong and bright in this image, I had to take my pictures with this laying flat do to reflections from the glass, so the colors may appear less vibrant than they will appear in person.
