Catalog note / 解説

"Les Perles Mandchoukuo" (The Pearls. Manchuria). This print is considered as the technical masterpiece of Japanese woodblock printing. More than 300 individual impressions from nearly sixty blocks, both sides carved, were used for creating this exquisite design. It was dedicated to Queen Juliana of the Netherlands as a part of a gift set.
