Tuesday, 26 June 2007 1959 Asian Art Woodblock Print Modern TAMAMI SHIMA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here you have a nice original mid-century signed woodblock print by Japanese artist Tamami Shima ( 1937 - 1999). Tamami Shima was a graduate of the Women's College of Fine Arts in Tokyo. Her work was promoted in the West when she was selected as one of ten winners in a print competition sponsored by James Michener. Shima's designs are notable for their use of texture and form especially for her striking use of various wood grain patterns within a single image. Print measures about 24" X 17".
