Wednesday, 9 November 2005 JAPANESE WOOD BLOCK PRINT - signed TANAUCHI with SHINAGAWA label. Beautiful subtle blending of colors in this wood block print. The scene shows two Japanese figures on an islet; note their reflections in the water. The rock and floral foreground are done in a modernist style; again, note the reflections in the water. I was told this piece and many others I purchased were obtained by the original owner ( the seller's father) in Japan in the 1960's, however I don't really know the age of the wood block prints. I did have these prints reviewed by a native of Japan; she thinks these are much older; maybe from the 1920's - 1930's. The print is signed in the lower left…
