Sunday, 16 April 2006 You are bidding on a very beautiful, colorful and rare original Japanese woodblock print masterpiece “Circus” signed by the famous Showa Sosaku Hanga woodblock print master Kawanishi Hide (1894-1965). The size of this woodblock print is 16 1/4 x 13 1/2 inches. The artist’s chop mark is at the lower right corner of the border. Another chop mark is close to the upper middle right edge. There is written in pencil “ 44/150” at the left end of the bottom border, which means “the 44th print out of 150 prints” The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers.
