Catalog note / 解説

From the Sosaku Hanga club magazine, "Kitsutsuki". The name means 'Woodpecker', metaphorical for a woodblock print artist chiseling wood little by little. Vol. 2 . Back alley at Ginza. The lantern advertises for "Azuma Odori" (Tokyo Dance). Kanenori Suwa wrote about the print, "This is left-over Ginza. The residence of a traditional dancer in Shinbashi district. One can hear the sound of "koto" instead of Jazz music of the modern Ginza".
