Catalog note / 解説

Two samurai are climbing a stone stairway in a mountain led by a white bird. Okoku was a painter of great energy and diverse talents. He was especially noted for his large complex screen paintings with animals and bird-and-flower motifs. He committed suicide at the age of 61.
