"Kagoshima Kakuken, Seinan Chinbun" (Each Prefecture in Kagoshima, The Strange Story from the South-west). "Zokusho Saigo-boshi no Zu". The Osaka Nippo Newspaper reported, "A red star appeared around 1 o'clock every night. The rumor was that when it was seen by a telescope, one could see the figure of Saigo Takamori in the army general uniform. The red star was probably a comet.".
