Catalog note / 解説

Tsubone Iwafuji humiliated Churo Onoe (left) by slapping her with a sandal. This incident caused Onoe to commit suicide. Her loyal servant Ohatsu later avenged her mistress in the play, "Kagamiyama Kokyo no Nishiki-e".
