100 Views of Edo Artist: Hiroshige I Format: Oban tate-e: 14.75" x 10" Subject: Dyers' Quarter, Kanda. Stirred by the Autumn wind, long strips of freshly dyed cotton fabric hang from drying platforms erected high above dyers' shops in the Kanda district. The fabric will later be used to make Tenugui, cotton strips that were used as towels and headbands and that became a common gift and souvenir item in the Edo period, they remain so today. Through the fabric, in the distance a view of a snow capped Mount Fuji. Publisher: Uoya Eikichi Date: 11th Month 1857 Condition: Fine colors. Full size with large margins.
