Colour woodblock print, oban. The kabuki actor Ichimura Uzaemon XII as Kajiwara Genta Kagesue, from Act II, ‘The Disinheriting of Genta’ (‘Genta kando’), in the play ‘Hiragana seisuiki’, (also ‘Hirakana seisuiki’), by Bunkodo, Miyoshi Shoraku, Asada Kakei and Takeda Izumo II; performed at the Ichimura-za in the 4th month of 1840 (Tenpo 11). A poem by the actor above signed and sealed.
