Catalog note / 解説

Suzuki, Japanese sea perch ( Lateolabrax japonicus ) and kaneme-tai, red bream ( possibly Beryx splendens ), together with shiso or beefsteak plant. From the second series of fish published by Yamasho, c.1840-42. Poem by Atsugaki. Very good impression ( with Ichiryusai seal but cross-hatching on the Suzuki; so a new state between Kruml 20a and 20b, Andon 49 ). Fine colour. Album backing and centre fold ( as per usual ). Signed Hiroshige ga. Status: Sold
