Parodies of Tengu, the Long-nosed Goblins , by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) The eccentric genius of the late Edo period, Kuniyoshi, created all manner of humorous prints. Giga, or humorous pictures, are images that can make anyone laugh, no matter the age, or period. The tengu is a long-nosed imaginary beast, and these humorous prints depict their various predicaments. Tengu caught out in a sudden shower, or the night world of the tengu. These images don't need a lot of explanation.
