Saturday, 16 June 2007 Highly Important Early Large Head Artist: Toyokuni I Format: Oban tate-e grey ground: 14.5" x 10" approx Subject: One of Toyokuni's finest 'Large Head' designs the beautiful young actor Matsumoto Yonesaburo as Tsukisayo, wearing a kimono decorated with Battledore bat and flight, in the Joruri play, Hinanomiya mutsuki no Mitsubiki performed at the Kiri za theatre in 1797.
