Catalog note / 解説

"Yoshitoshi Ryakuga" (Sketches by Yoshitoshi). "Tengu no Sekai" (World of Tengu). Tengu (half-bird half-human monster) on the left carries a letter box of Edo era and the other carries a bag of the new postal system in Meiji. Their noses collide in the midair. A telephone pole is depicted on the lower right.
