Original Japanese Woodblock Triptych by Chikanobu, circa 1890 Catching Fireflies Chikanobu- Chikanobu was one of the few Japanese woodblock print artists who continued to depict traditional Japanese themes at the end of the 19th century. His wonderful triptychs of Japanese beauties are among his most well known designs. These images of women in their daily lives illustrate an elegant era that Chikanobu tried to preserve through his artwork. Catching Fireflies- Catching fireflies was a party pastime of of the wealthy in 19th century Japan.
