Catalog note / 解説

From the series, "Kokon Tokyo Meisho" (The Famous Places of Tokyo; The Past and The Present). Two Bijin are looking over the Sarugaku-cho, theatre district from the upstairs balcony. Many ornaments, colorful advertisement banners bearing popular actor's names, large billboards of the new kabuki offerings entice the onlookers into the theater.
