Monday, 21 January 2008 This auction presents a genuine Hiroshige (?) wood block dating from the mid second quarter of the 18th century. Hiroshige worked from 1818 to 1858. Most of the Japanese wood blocks we are offering may have been transported back to the United States around 1946 from an officer that was part of the U.S. occupying forces in Japan. The condition of this piece is relatively good and considering the age of the piece appears to be sound. It measures 15 1/2" x 10 1/4" on the printed page. This piece is not in a mat-folio.
