Catalog note / 解説

Though bridges were already common subjects in European painting, they became much more popular as a result of the influence of ukiyo-e. Thus, a cross-cultural influence was present at this time: Japanese ukiyo-e impacted Western Impressionists who were later admired and emulated by Japanese artists such as Hasui.
