Catalog note / 解説

"Sumiya" Restaurant Sumiya in Shimabara. It is the finest example of "ageya" (fine, luxurious restaurant) style architecture which was built more than 250 years ago. It was designated to a National Cultural Treasure in 1952 by Japanese government.
